If your program is compiled with a different version, then sometimes problems like you see with return values can occur. You can recompile ARIA by opening the Aria.sln file and rebuilding the solution. (Aria 2.7 also includes DLL's and libraries built with Visual Studio 2008, and includes Visual Studio 2008 solution files.) If this is not the issue, let me know and we can try to figure it out. Its serial number is ATGJCC2940. Recently we added an outdoor laser to it (model Sick LMS291-S05). We have now problems connecting to the laser using the onboard computer with Linux OS. I tried several ARIA version (2.5.0, 2.7.0 and 2.7.1) including updating the OS from Debian 3.1 to Debian 4.0. Wenn I connect to the laser using a WIN laptop and USB2serial converters everything works normal. My wiring is so correct including the laser and DC-DC converter. Does anybody have a clue what could I do or check for errors? Best regards, IE -- _____________________________________________________________ Edouard Ivanjko, Ph.D.E.E. If the laser is getting power, but not communicating over the serial connection, check the serial port settings: 1. Check the BIOS settings for the serial ports. If they have been reset or changed, you can change them to our recommended values for that computer (see below). 2. In Linux, use the 'setserial' command to check and if neccesary reconfigure the serial ports so that the irqs match the BIOS settings, and here you can also set the default baud rate, other settings etc. (though ARIA will try to set it according to its laser parameters). See this page for some more details: http://robots.mobilerobots.com/wiki/Computer_Serial_Port_Configuration Reed Edouard Ivanjko wrote: > Hello Reed, > > Under windows I also use ARIA, and it's the version 2.5-1 from February, > 16. 2007.
